Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob today wished welcome back to Malaysians returning from abroad after the reopening of the country's borders following the Transition to the Endemic Phase.

The Health Ministry's daily Covid-19 presser turned into a sombre affair today when its director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah announced it was the last day on the job for one of his deputies, who had been playing a key role in the battle against the pandemic.

All ministers who are on holiday abroad and have been ordered to return home immediately are still subject to the quarantine order as stipulated, said Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.

The MOH has called for stricter border control, including implementing risk assessments on individuals returning from abroad to prevent the Lambda variant from spreading into the country.
